Two properties can need the exact same excavation work and end up with very different costs — often because of something that has nothing to do with the hole itself: how hard it is to get equipment to the work area.
Why access matters so much
If equipment can drive straight to the work site on solid ground, that's the most efficient scenario. If it has to navigate a narrow gate, cross soft ground, travel a long distance from the road, or work around trees and structures, all of that adds time — and equipment time is a major part of excavation cost.
Limited access can also mean using smaller equipment (like our Takeuchi TL8 instead of the larger excavator) for parts of a job, which can take longer even though the equipment itself may cost less to operate per hour.
What to tell us upfront
When you request an estimate, mention gate widths, whether the route to the work area is solid or likely to be soft/muddy, and any obstacles equipment will need to navigate. It won't always change the plan, but it helps us give you a more accurate estimate from the start rather than adjusting after we've already seen the site.
