What goes into digging a pond right
Before any digging starts, we look at soil type, the water table, drainage into and out of the site, and how the excavated dirt will be used or hauled. North Texas clay generally holds water well, but every site is different, and depth and slope both affect whether a pond holds up long-term.
We size ponds based on what the property and the landowner's goals call for — livestock water, fishing, aesthetics, or a combination. Depth, bank slope and spillway placement all get planned before equipment shows up.
